RMM v Beach Boys - MATCH REPORT

Finally the damn report from last week's game...

Big thank you for Iceman for the following report:

RMM vs Beach Boys, Kg Pandan Sports Complex
A brief match report from the stands...

RMM (1) 1 Kee Pin
B.Boys (0) 0

Squad & starting line up: Meng, Snake, JJ, J.Yap, Si-Yeh, Guvnor, Joe, Jeff, Phoon, Gary, Kee Pin (yeah, only 11 guys turned up)

Another test of character and strength for RMM as we only had 11 players for this game. Meng was handed the task of keeping a clean sheet in the 1st half and had trouble putting on the gloves! Despite some scary moments, he managed a shut out. A loose back pass early in the game let the opponent striker through, despite getting past Meng he could only roll the ball across the open goalmouth from a tight angle. Minutes later, Meng somehow prevented a goal with a combination of his hands and foot when a dangerous freekick was curled in.

The game was a pretty scrappy affair as both sides struggled to string passes together. Midway through the 1st half, a clever pass out of defence from Si-yeh found Guvnor in space who quickly played Keepin in. Going one to one with the keeper, he collided with the keeper (claims he was fouled) and the ball was cleared off the line. Gary retrieved it on the right and quickly(well, it looked quick) sent in a cross. The ball came back a little behind Keepin who shockingly was able to hook the ball into the far corner of the net! 1-0 and some light celebrations... Halftime came without anymore interesting incidents.

Si-yah swapped position with Meng for 2nd half and almost gifted a goal when he failed to deal with a loose pass. Fortunately, opponents did not have their shooting boots on. Chances beginning to appear on both ends as players begin to tire and the best one fell to Guvnor, who failed to finish a great cross by the legendary Jeff who was operating on the left. Then one of our worst fears happened, as we had to play with 10 men for the rest of the game... no thanks to Snake. Instead of clearing his lines, Snake took the ball back towards goal and then changed his mind and tried to turn around again. But his foot refused to follow his mind and kicked the ball towards our own box. Opponents easily ran past him to pick up the ball but JJ sensing danger made a crucial goal saving challenge. However, the tackle took JJ out of the game as well. 10 v 11.

Moments later, we were almost down to 9 men when Snake got injured doing nothing... maybe guilt. After few minutes of drama, Snake took over as keeper. RMM reshuffled lineup with Joe dropping into defence n Keepin into midfield. We managed to hang onto the lead till the end for another win.

Sad to mention there was a little ugly incident near the end involving Gary and Joe. Hope that doesn't again.
