RMM 3 Kunt Team 1

REVENGE IS SWEET

This week’s fixture sees RMM travel out of the Klang Valley to Uniten, Bangi for a 4pm kickoff. As everyone was expecting a new opposition or some teams we rarely play, it turns out to be Kunt Team which we played only a month ago. Anyway, it presented us the chance to exact revenge on our arch nemesis.

Guvnor was missing once again and as usual Iceman took over team duties. Legendary Jeff started in goal, with Marvelous Melvin marshalling the defence alongside Hardman, Snake and Zig Zak. The midfield consists of Iceman and Partyman Eddie flanked by futsal King Kenny on the right and Red Devil Meng on the left. Hot and cold pairing of Flash That and Batigol led the attack.

The match turned out to be scrappy in the opening ten minutes as expected with both teams guilty of giving away possession cheaply. Short Ass(SA) Kunt striker began to influence the game as he caused havoc on the left where the lanky Zak had problems containing the threat. On one occasion nearly conceded a penalty with a clumsy lunge at SA but fortunately the ref waved play on. The furious SA then had a long argument with the ref and had to be restraint by his team mates before he got sent off. The incident seemed to have helped RMM as SA never looked threatening again for the rest of the game.

The RMM midfield then started to seize control and began threading some super passes to the forwards. One of them fell to the woefully off-form superstar Batigol. Flash That broke through on the left and fired a low shot from a tight angle which the keeper could only palm away towards an unmarked Batigol. With the goal at his mercy the superstar striker decided bring the ball down to his right foot and before he could shoot the defence had crowded him out and scrambled the ball to safety. Shouts and curses of frustration could be heard from all RMM players.

Midway through the first half, Blindman Poon was brought into the fray and instantly made his presence felt. He gave the leftback a torrid time with hs mazy runs down the right flank. After some good link up play with Batigol, he rose above a static defence to head past the advancing keeper. A great effort for one who can’t see clearly past 5 feet! 1-0 to RMM.

Within a minute RMM went 2-0 up. An alert That intercepted a poor pass out of defence from Kunt Team and sprinted clear before smashing a left footed shot into the far corner. Brilliant goal.

As RMM look to see out the half, a suspiciously offside Scarface floated a harmless cross from the left to right. But before the RMM defense could scramble back into position a second cross, this time from the right saw a Kunt striker sneaked in to head the ball from the waiting hands of Jeff. 2-1. An enraged and animated Master of the Alternate Universe was quick to points fingers at his defence although he must know deep down inside, he was partially to blame as well.

A few of changes in the second half saw the introduction of former star striker Rudi linking up with current superstar Batigol upfront, which funnily Blindman Poon failed to recognize. Flash That was also asked to take over goalkeeping duties from the eager Jeff who was fielded as leftback. Newcomer Ethan was deployed on the right and Poon switched to the left.

RMM dominated the half with the defence looking sure and solid for once and thus reducing Kunt Team to only a couple of harmless long range attempts which That easily dealt with.

Chrome dome hitman Rudi almost produced a stunning goal when he controlled a high ball, turned and volleyed from a full 30m only to see the ball bounced off the crossbar with the keeper well beaten. But he finally got his reward for his hardwork after a flowing move involving Jeff, Poon, Iceman and Partyman saw him beat the offside trap to nod the ball home past the stranded keeper. 3-1.

With a two-goal cushion, RMM continued to create and miss chances with the front four of Poon, Rudi, Gary and Ethan the guilty parties. Partyman felt the full force of Melvin’s fierce shot in his nuts when he got in the way of another goal attempt and subsequently limped out to join Zak who injured himself in the first half on the sidelines.

Despite a somewhat fine performance and comfortable win, the game turned ugly towards the end when a couple of star players started abusing each other during play. The outbursts continued slightly after the game… maybe some of us have been watching too many World Cup games. We shall wait and see what the Guvnor has to say about this next week.

Another good win and more importantly revenge, as RMM has finally recovered from the slump in the month of May.
