RMM 3 James' Team 2

In the past, the encounters between RMM and James' Team (JT) had always been seen as fierce local derbies where no prisoners were taken. That however had started to change in recent games as the forms between the 2 fierce local rivals began heading towards opposite directions with JTs form slumping and RMM remaining consistent.

With most of it's squad back this week, RMM managed to start the game with 11 and followed the formbook by taking charge of the first half with a superb solo effort from Flash That and another goal from the free scoring Batigol.

Bossing the game, RMM only had to call permanent stand-in keeper Shark into action once when the giant short stopper pulled off a stupendous diving save from JT's Ronald's 25 yard screamer.
The 2nd half however proved to be a different game. RMM had taken a 3 goal lead when Iceman's deadball prowness once again proved deadly, pinballing between JTs keeper and the post before ending at the back of the net.

Things that started to get undone for the wily veterans as JT pulled a goal back when their playmaker waltz past a static RMM defense to stroke the ball home.

Worse was yet to come from RMM as 'volunteer' stand-in keeper Speedy then decided to provide everyone with his weekly dose of comic relief. Mis-controlling the ball with 1 feet, he mis-kicked the ball with his other feet into the path of JTs playmaker. The grateful JT player then easily chipped the formerly speedy Speedy who was by then stranded at the edge of his box with both his legs tied together.

RMM then had little choice but to park the bus in front of goal to defend the slender 1 goal lead until the final whistle.

The game also featured a trailist recommended by SiYeh who claimed his charge was built like Nitro and would free score like Batigol. Unfortunately the ballerina was neither and SiYeh's alternative career as a Super Agent may have failed before it started.

RMM 4 Chinese Valencia 0

TEN MEN TRIUMPH

With only 9 players available at the starting whistle, RMM had its work cut out for this tie against Chinese Valencia (CV). Amongst the players missing were RMMs current top scorers, Batigol and Guvnor.

RMMers were however relieved that the 2 resident speedsters Flash That and Blindman Poon were available for selection. Playing a 4-3-1 formation, the wily veterans dominated the game from the start.

Flash That playing upfront alone was in the zone as he wrecked havoc on the lead footed CV defence. On the right, Blindman Poon was also a constant threat with his direct running and on the left, Red Devil Meng played like a man possessed, bombing up (and staying there) like a young Roberto Carlos from his left back position.

With both Flash That and Blindman Poon came close on several occasions in the first few minutes, it was no surprise when Flash That scored the opener after some good interplay with the sonically enhanced Blindman.

The 2 combined again for RMMs second with the Blindman finishing off the move to make it 2-0 to the 9 men of RMM.

The belated arrival of Nitro meant that RMM then had 10 players. That did not disrupt RMMs rhythm as long time followers of the veterans were treated to a display never seen before in a RMM game... a patient build up style of play that starts from the back.

Playing with no pressure, RMMs backline comprising of Red Devil Meng, Aeroplane King Beng Koh, SiYeh and Zig Zack stroked the ball patiently from side to side in order to draw the beleaguered CV players out, leaving Shark in goal a frustrated observer. In the middle of the park, Iceman and Partyman Eddie played the percentages and kept possession well. It was all about sideway passing and triangles for RMM. That in turn ensured that Blindman Poon and Flash That's runs were timed and both players were spared unnecessary potentially energy sapping runs.

Controlling the game, RMM won a free kick in a dangerous position of the left. Up stepped the ice cool dead ball specialist, Iceman who let rip a curler that deflected off a stunned CV defender into the roof of the net. 3-0 and RMM were cruising all the way.

RMM then proved that it can also mix it up when a long punt by Shark in goal was smashed home by Flash That who outpaced the shell shocked defence. It was Route 1 football at its best thrown in the mix.

With the game sewn up, the battled hardened veterans then dropped a few gears on the second half. To the disappointment of the fans, RMM also reverted back to type and began playing the urgent attacking football it's known for, attempting to turn defense into attack on every occasion.

The end result was a deluge of misplaced passes, over hit through balls and blind clearances out of defense to any forward areas. The typical RMM game.

These combined factors gave the impetus to CV who started to get a foothold in the game, making the 2nd half a more even affair.

In fact, the best chances of the 2nd half fell to CV who worked RMMs 2nd half keeper Flash That twice. On the 1st occasion, RMMs goal scoring hero turned goal prevention machine had to scramble across his own goal to palm the ball away. He then had to pull off a superb reaction save to palm the ball over from a corner.

Flash That was however helpless when CV had their best chance during a corner kick. Having miscommunicated with Zig Zack, he could only watch the CV striker head against the bar from right under the bar.

Upfront, Shark led the line alone manfully and ran himself to the ground but with RMM not having as much possession, had little to shout about as well.

The game finally ended at 4-0 to RMM. Although one could argue that it should have been a cricket score, one had to admit that the 1st half display was indeed something to behold.

RMMers were also thankful that there was no penalty awarded in this game to spare everyone from more missed penalties.

Miss Of The Season Contender # 7- Siyeh v KL Machan

Penalty misses seems to be the fad these days with RMM as the veterans missed their 5th penalty of the season.

Since the introduction of the New Penalty Taking Duties (NPTD) policy, RMMs Golden Oldies have yet to find the net from the spot with Siyeh being the 3rd to fail.

Having practiced his penalty kick before the match, the libero strutted up the field like a peacock when called upon for his penalty duties.

Having assured teammates that he was confident of being the first goal scorer under the NPTD policy, the languid centerback proceeded to serve up a lame effort that was easily parried away by the KLM keeper

RMM 3 KL Machan 1

With a mixture of golden oldies and pimply teenagers, KL Machans (KLM) were never going to trouble RMMs experienced squad.

That proved to the case as RMM took a comfortable 2-0 lead in the 1st half with goals coming from RMMs on-form scorers, the super hot superstar, Batigol and Supreme Ruler Of The Skies above the pitch, Guvnor.

RMM displayed a confident display of passing game throughout the half with the watertight defense looking very comfortable and the midfielders pulling the strings. The only blotch on RMMS 1st half report card would be Mat Burit’s various misses on 1v1 situations and Blindman Poon’s sometimes defective sonar.

Defensive lynchpin Siyeh provided the highlight in the 1st half when he missed RMMs 5th penalty of the season.

The 2nd half proved to be more of the same as RMM continued to turn the screws. Unfortunately, the battled hardened veterans could only score 1 more when the limping Mat Burit finally scored from the 6 yard line.

The veterans could have racked up a cricket score if was for the plethora of misses from almost the entire attacking section of the RMM team. Some blamed the missed chances on the confusing team instructions given out with regards to taking shots of taking time to look around before shooting.

RMM did however concede a goal in this half when 2nd half keeper - Speedy, was again beaten by the customary 45 yards speculative lob. There was little the Master Of the Alternative Universe could do on this occasion as he was busy picking his nose when RMM lost possession of the ball as Blindman Poon’s sonar system suffered a meltdown resulting in the Blindman passing the ball to a KLM player.

The Master Of The Alternative Universe’s moment of the game came when he had clearly caught the ball outside his box. Denying any wrongdoing, Speedy started to cite the penalty box dimension’s from his Alternate Universe as his case of defense much to the bafflement of his team mates.

The game ended in a farcical manner when Titan was struck in the face by a attempt at goal by a KLM striker. As the veteran RMM defender laid prone of the pitch, the KLM supporters stopped picking ticks from each other and started to climb nearby trees making monkey like noises. That in turn agitated RMMers and some pushing and shoving started happening between both set of players.

Unable to locate bananas to pacify the KLM supporters, the referee called the game off in fear.
